MEET SCOTT SMYLIE AND BILL VAN DUSEN
Scott Smylie
Attorney
After receiving his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1983, Scott began his career at a law firm in San Diego. In 1988, he co-founded Smylie & Van Dusen, where he focuses on business, commercial, and real estate law. Scott has litigated and tried numerous civil cases, including complex fraudulent conveyance matters, secured transactions, partnership and corporate disputes, business matters, and Scott has a wide range of litigation and transactional real estate experience. Scott has meditation and arbitration experience and has extensive knowledge of consumer collection and bankruptcy laws.
Scott has been admitted to the State Bar of California, the United States District Court (SDCA and CDCA), the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. He is also a member of the California Bar Association, Real Property Law Section, and San Diego County Bar Association.
Outside of his law career, Scott is married with 3 children. He coached Pop Warner Football and loves to cook exploring new food and wines in his free time.
Bill Van Dusen
Attorney
After finishing law school at the University of San Diego and passing the State Bar in 1983, Bill began his career in law as an associate lawyer at a small real estate law firm. In 1988, he co-founded the boutique San Diego law firm of Smylie & Van Dusen where his practice focuses primarily on real estate and business matters. Bill has represented sellers, buyers, real estate brokers and agents, and business owners throughout San Diego County and beyond.
To Bill, “service” is more than just a marketing claim. He is proud of the long list of loyal clients and friends with whom he has worked, many of whom have sought his services for over a decade. He is dedicated to providing you with the “concierge” level of service you deserve.
In Bill’s free time, he loves spending time with his family and friends, boating, coaching, traveling, and playing music with his band – The Carbon Copy Band.
